Our mission is clear. In the face of news cycles dominated by disaster and despair, Beautiful News seeks to provide a source of comfort, relief, and motivation. South Africans are a vibrant, innovative, resourceful and warm-hearted people. By offering a counter-narrative told in films and photographs, we share the selflessness, courage, and human kindness that South Africans represent.

Since our launch on 1 November 2016, we have shared hundreds of positive stories and inspired countless individuals. Beautiful News has not only celebrated the threads of humanity that bind our nation; it’s become an integral part of the fabric of our society. Our stories of hope feature in people’s everyday lives and journeys, from malls and universities to airports and Uber rides. In just over two years, the project has amassed millions of views on social media. Through our partners who share our vision, we’ve created over a billion opportunities to revel in the narratives that define our nation and show us what we’re capable of.
